June Tourism Revenue Plummets 23% yr-on-yr
Tourism revenue for June 2009 has dropped 23.6% year-on-year to €175.4 million, said the Cyprus Statistical Service.
In June 2008, revenue was €229.6 million. For the period January – June 2009 revenue from tourism is estimated to €565,8 mn compared to €671,9 mn in the corresponding period of 2008, recording a decrease of 15,8%.
The number of tourists to the island has declined each year since 2006, when there were 998,325 arrivals in June, to 883,002 for the same period this year.
