No Swine Flu Mass Vaccinations for Cyprus Schools

For the time being there are no plans to provide mass vaccinations against swine flu to school children, the Minister of Education Andreas Demetriou said yesterday.

However, he will consult with the Ministry of Health on the issue, and is planning a "fully-fledged plan to deal with problems that may arise from the new flu", according to the semi-governmental organisation Cyprus News Agency.

“The Ministry of Education has a plan to address the problem, which will be announced well before the start of the school year”, he said, adding that according to the Ministry of Health and doctors, "this type of flu is not very serious but very mild."

A total of 297 cases of swine flu have been reported to the government so far.
