Networking for Businesswomen
Incoming and resident businesswomen in Cyprus now have a new tool for networking on the island with the Cyprus Business Women network group.
"Janice Ruffle and myself felt there was a need for a network for women in business – there had been a network for women but it had folded – so just over a year ago we held our first meeting at the Kefalos Beach Hotel. The response was amazing and we have grown in numbers and locations ever since," said co-founder of the group Margaret Efstathiou.
The aim of the Cyprus Business Women network group is to provide women in business with the opportunity to meet other women in business that they may not otherwise meet, she says.
"It gives them the chance to promote not only their business but also themselves. The meetings are very informal and friendly," says Efstathiou.
There are two types of membership - Business Members are women who own a registered business in Cyprus and Associate Members. Business members will be able to join the networking group, attend meetings, host meetings and add a link to the directory (following their first meeting). There is no charge for this business link.
Associate members are women who are in managerial positions within a business that they do not own, but are still in their own right 'Dynamic Women'. Associate Members will be able to join the networking group, attend meetings, host meetings, but will not be able to add a link to the directory.
"We believed there is a place for a dynamic business network to provide business opportunities and to support the growing number of women who run their own businesses or work in existing organizations here in Cyprus . Each and every member will be able to add something to the group," says Efstathiou.
There are regular monthly meetings in Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca and very shortly Nicosia.
