New Road Fatality in Limassol

The 21st victim of a road accident this year died last night in a Limassol village after a motorcyclist struck him as he was crossing the road.

50-year-old Christodoulos Demetriou was on foot on Michali Siali street in Asomatos village when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by an 18-year-old man. He was rushed to Limassol General Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

The accident happened at 8pm last night, said police, adding that the motorcyclist had fled the scene but was tracked down later at the General Hospital where he received treatment for his broken nose and concussion.

The motorcyclist has been arrested on allegations of causing a fatal accident.
