Documentary Awarded Patras Prize
A documentary on post-invasion Cyprus written and directed by Greek writers Vassilis Vassilikos and Takis Papyiannides has won the International Film Festival of Patras prize for historical documentaries.
The documentary - titled 'Plundering a bleeding land' - describes the story of Greek writer Vassilis Vassilikos who visits Cyprus 35 years after the Turkish invasion.
He comes face to face with the consequences of the invasion; Cypriot uprooted from their homes; looted monuments and archaelogical sites and destroyed works of art. He also interviews Greek and Turkish Cypriots for their memories, and writes about his experience.
