Cyprus Ranked 35 in UN Development Index
Cyprus has been ranked as number 35 in the UN Human Development Index (HDI) for 2010, and placed in the top 42 nations of Very High Human Development worldwide.
For the sake of comparison, Greece is ranked as 22 (very high human development, and Turkey ranks as 83 (high human development) while Norway ranks as number one and Zimbabwe as number 169.
The index measures Cyprus' life expectancy at 79.9 years, the mean years of schooling at 9.8, the income at 21.9 thousand dollars per capita, and the robbery rate per 100,000 people at 8.2.
Since 1980, Cyprus has consistently outperformed compared to Europe and Central Asia and the world.
