Larnaka Man Arrested for Premeditated Murder
According to a spokesman, the suspect Andreas Christodoulou showed up at a Larnaca police station at 7.30am and said he had accidentally strangled his wife as they were having sex in their home in Alethriko village.
"He said he 'became stuck inside' his wife as they were making love, so he panicked and grabbed her by the neck to get free," said the police spokesman speaking to CyprusNewsReport.com.
Invesigators went to the man's home and found 41-year-old Bulgarian Spaska Karamarinova naked on the bed. She was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where doctors certified her death, and an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as strangulation.
At 10.30am a judge issued an arrest warrant for the man, who is now in custody on an eight-day remand. The couple have three children, including a 6-year-old boy who was in the house asleep while the drama unfolded.
Reports are coming in that the couple's relationship was troubled, and someone claiming to be a family friend of the murdered woman contacted CyprusNewsReport.com to reveal that the suspect's first name is Andreas because "his name should be released out to the public." The friend added that "he's not getting away with what he did lightly".
The suspect's claim of penis captivus, as the phenomenon is called, is extremely rare and its existence is even called an urban myth by many. There is only one known report of penis captivus, in a letter to the British Medical Journal relating to an apparent case in 1947. Other than this incident, there were no other cases in the 1900's, according to the journal.
