Art from Peru with a Mouseclick
These days you can find anything you want on the Internet, and art is no exception...but all the way from Peru?
That would be a 'yes'! PeruPaintings.com - www.perupaintings.com - features the minimalist, sometimes surreal and colourful aesthetic of Peru through an online gallery.
The owner of the gallery, Beatriz Savva, lives in Cyprus and is originally from Peru. She works with 15 painters in Lima and is on a constant search for more talented artists in the country.
"Each of the painters has a unique style and this allows us to offer variety to our buyers," said Mrs. Savva.
She wants to bring the Peruvian aesthetic to the Mediterranean and indeed to the world.
"For the last few years there has been an increased interest in Latin American culture in Cyprus. Cypriots and foreigners living on the island have shown interest in our language, music and dance. It was this interest that gave me the idea to promote our paintings through our online gallery," said Mrs. Savva.
Art has played an important role in Peruvian history and culture, coloring the country with a wide variety of styles that can be seen across its regions in everything from literature and architecture, to painting, crafts and dance.
"As a Peruvian I feel very proud about our art and culture and now I'm also delighted that I can help promote it abroad as well," said Mrs. Savva.
