Special Report on Water Conservation in Portugal
Cyprus and Portugal share a problem that seriously affects ordinary people on a daily basis - water shortages.
Both countries went through a near-drought in the period 2006-2008 which resulted in water cuts and the dawning realisation that water resources are under real threats from droughts, high demand and wastage.
Between April 18th - 2st, CyprusNewsReport.com will bring you special reports from Portugal on various initiatives that the Portuguese have taken to save their water resources.
In addition to the factual pieces, the series of short pieces Moments of Beauty will be looking at the issues from a different perspective - what we could lose if we don't take care of our water resources and overall environment.
The special reports are thanks to The European Journalism Centre and European Commission, which organised an international blogging competition to raise awareness about water conservation issues. The winning journalists and bloggers are a group of 25 environmentally-aware writers who will report from Portugal on the Climate Action on Water.
