Actor Thanasis Veggos Passes Away

Veteran and revered Greek actor and director Thanasis Veggos has passed away in hospital after suffering a stroke seven months ago.

The 84-year-old leaves behind a wife and two children.

Nicknamed 'the good man' (ο "καλός άνθρωπος") Veggos was a well-loved actor who was appointed Commander of the Order of the Phoenix by President Karolos Papoulias in 2008.

He played everyman characters struggling to get by and was also a fine comedic actor.
