Bomb Attack on Russian Businessman, Larnaca

A high-powered explosive seriously injured a 52-year-old Russian businessman living in Pyla village at 6.40am this morning, said police.

Dimitri Loginoff was taking a walk in the tourist area when a bomb hidden behind an electricity pole exploded, injuring his legs and stomach.

A Cypriot doctor who lives in the area rushed to give him first aid, said investigators.

The victim of the bomb attack has two children who live abroad, and a wife who lives with him in Pyla. Police have not ruled out disputes with other Russians as motive for the attack.

Nobody else was injured in the explosion, which happened during the Russian's usual morning walk, said police.
