Alethriko Man Convicted of Murdering Wife

53-year-old Alethriko resident Andreas Christodoulou has been convicted of strangling his Bulgarian common-law wife, Spaska Karamarinova, on January 3rd, 2011, reports the Cyprus Mail.

The defendant initially told police that he had 'accidentally strangled' his 41-year-old partner while they were having sex. But police arrested the construction worker on suspicion of premeditated murder, and after the court conviction, he is due to be sentenced at a later date.

The couple have a young son, aged six, who was in the house asleep during the attack on his mother.
