Two Dead in Separate Road Accidents - Limassol
Two people died in the same day after separate road accidents in Limassol, said police.
22-year-old Eleftherios Pafitis lost his life after an accident at 6.15pm August 4th on the Nicosia-Limassol highway.
Police said Pafitis' car collided with a vehicle driven by a 57-year-old as he came off the entrance ramp at Agios Tychonas. After hitting the 57-year-old's car, Pafitis' car slewed across the highway and slammed into the guard rail.
The young man was critically injured in the accident and was taken to Limassol General Hospital, but his injuries were too severe and he died in the early morning hours of August 5th.
Later the same day, a 43-year-old Syrian national was killed in a road accident on Spyros Araouzos street in Limassol. His motorcycle was hit by an unknown driver whose car also hit another car driven by a 36-year-old woman.
After crashing into the two vehicles, the car smashed into the side of a restaurant and the driver and passenger abandoned the scene of the accident.
The 43-year-old motorcyclist - who was not wearing a helmet - was fatally injured in the accident and declared dead on arrival at Limassol General Hospital, said police.
