On Sept 12th there’s a concert by the band "Love is in the Air" to mark the last full moon of the summer. The National Tennis Centre in Nicosia will host the Aphrodite World Tennis Cup from September 6th – 10th. The Aphrodite Cup has been upgraded to grade 4 of the International Tennis Federation, thus attracting high level tennis players, this year with the participation of at least 45 countries. There is a change of venue for the 5th Cyprus-Russia Charity Gala. It’s now being held at the University of Cyprus Campus in Aglantzia on Sept 10th. Performances include: Legendary Russian rock band Lubeh in Cyprus for the first time, Mihalis Hatzigiannis, The Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation, The Cyprus Young String Soloists, together with the popular Russian group A’Cappella ExpreSSS playing Russian folk and jazz. Acclaimed actor John Malkovich will be in Cyprus on Sept 17th at the Makarios III Amphitheatre in Strovolos in a play called ‘The Infernal Comedy: Confession of a serial killer’. The annual Limassol Wine Festival takes place from Sept 8th until Sept 18th from 7-11.30pm. Since the first one in 1961, this festival has always been great fun. Local wines are showcased and this year there is an award ceremony for the biggest glass of wine in the world, plus traditional Cypriot food. Tickets are €6 for adults which includes a bottle of wine, teenagers aged 13-18 pay €5, and children under 12 pay €12. There’ll be a shuttle bus service from Nicosia to the festival. Saturday Soccer is accepting registrations of new players for the 2011-2012 Season. If you are between 8 and 15 years old and you like to play football then this is for you. Players of all nationalities, all levels of ability, boys and girls are welcome. Coaching is in English. The club meets at the pitches in the United Nations Protected Area (UNPA) every Saturday morning during school term times. Fees are 40 euros per term.
