Corrupt State Doctor Exposed in '60 Minutes'

A corrupt state doctor has been filmed taking cash in exchange for accepting patients by Sigma TV's '60 Minutes' show, triggering an investigation by the Health Ministry.

The un-named doctor was filmed by hidden cameras palming envelopes containing 300 euros in exchange for scheduling patients for operations. Shortly afterwards, Health Minister Stavros Malas launched an investigation, saying that the ministry has the names of suspected corrupt doctors working in the system.

The news comes in the wake of a report by Auditor-general Chrystalla Yioraktzis showing that state doctors are claiming unnecessary overtime, resulting in black holes in the national health service budget.
