St Paul’s Cathedral in N/sia is holding a Whist Drive on Fri 18th Nov at 7.30 pm. 

It costs €5 to enter, plus there’ll be a prize for the top score and there’ll be free tea & coffee with biscuits. However you can BYO. To sign up call Agnete on 99-823785.

The 7th Chocolate week takes place at the Colours Café in the Four Seasons Hotel in L/ssol from Nov 18th-27th.  A chance to try dark, white and milk chocolate treats plus chocolate drinks.  Call 25858000.

The French oenologist and sommelier, Michel Constantin, will be giving workshops at the French Institute in Nicosia (3 Vasilisis Amalias St, Ayios Andreas).  The dates are Nov 29th and Dec 13th and 20th.   Classes are for between 6-10 people, from 7-9pm.  There is a €150 fee. Orient Action’s next event is on Sun 20th Nov which will be around the north and west of Troodos square.  Registration starts at 0945 hrs nd the meeting place is the covered seating area opposite the Troodos square parking space.  You can run individually or in teams of 2-3 people.   Competition level is 3, which is for people who know how to use a compass and the event distance is approximately 3 kms.  For more information go to the website: www.orientaction.org.cy

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is performing works by Beethoven on Thurs 24th Nov at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre.  The conductor is Alkis Baltas with solos from cellist Petros Gospodinov, violinist Wolfgang Schroeder and pianist Naoko Kariya.  Tickets are €12.  Call 2246 3144. 

The 2nd Artists' Bazaar at the Municipal Museum of Lefkosia is on Sat 19th Nov from 10am-5pm.  The event showcases some of the best young artists, crafts-people and designers working in Nicosia.  Exhibits will include limited edition prints, fashion accessories, Jewellery, ceramics, homeware, clothing, handmade chocolates and cupcakes.

The Nicosia Dog Shelter has a fund raising screening of the film Hotel for Dogs, starring Emma Roberts on Wed 23rd Nov at the K-Cineplex in Strovolos.  Tickets are €10 for adult and €5 for children under 12.  There will be a welcome drink served at 4pm with the movies starting at 5.25pm, plus Floe and Moe will be face painting.  Tickets are on sale from Kivotos Pet Shop (18 Gravias St, Ay Dometios) or call 9986 8512.

On Sun Dec 10th at  at 5pm the Mediterranean Garden Society (Cy) and the Cyprus Cactus & Succulent Society will be screening a documentary in English call ‘Women in the Dirt’, which follows 7 female landscape architects. It’s on at the Cine Studio at the Nicosia University. Free.

Iced Earth, the American heavy metal band from Tampa, Florida, is performing in Cyprus on Dec 15th at the N/sia Pavilion Hall.   Sonik Death Monkey is the support act.   Tickets are €30 and are on sale from www.cyprusevents.net.

As part of the CYPRUS AMERICAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE lectures,  Prof. Michael R. Cosby, Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Greek Messiah College, will be talking about “Finding Joseph Barnabas, Cypriot Apostle of Freedom” on Thurs December 15th .  The lecture starts at 7pm and will be held in the CAARI Library (11 Andrea Demetriou St., N/sia).  For more information cal 22456414 or email librarian@caari.org.cy

The Junior School in N/sia is holding their Christmas Bazaar on Sat 26th Nov from 11am-3pm.   Lots of stalls, food and drink, games for the children and of course Father Christmas will be there.  Everyone is Welcome.
 
The Women’s Friendship Group at St Paul’s Cathedral in N/sia has their Christmas Bazaar from 11am-4pm on Saturday Nov 26th.  Lots of festive fare together with stalls and a raffle.

The Aphrodite Hills traditional Christmas Market takes place of Sunday 4th Dec from 11am-5pm.  It’s a fun festive day out for the whole family.  There will be stalls selling handicrafts, Christmas decorations and traditional foods, a Christmas Choir, fun activities for kis a Nativity Manger and even a visit from Santa.
 
The Friends for Life – Limassol Hospice Care Appeal’s Annual Christmas Fair is from 11am-7pm on Dec 4th and 5th at the Atlantica Miramare Beach Hotel, Yermasoyia.  There’ll be all sorts of items on sale including aromatherapy, mosaics, woodcraft, pottery and jewellery.
