Ayios Antonios Market in Nicosia Restored, Renovated
Walking down the supermarket aisle may be convenient but the sterile atmosphere of a mass market cannot hope to evoke the memories, tastes and sense of discovery of a farmer's market like Ayios Antonios in Nicosia.
Since its renovation and re-launch by Nicosia Mayor Eleni Mavrou last week, the market now also has a brand new image to go with its delectable fresh fruits, meats and traditional products.
Non-mainstream products like locally-produced olive oils, products derived from grapes like 'pallouze', fresh nuts, cured meats and literally hundreds of other local products can be discovered and enjoyed at the market.
There is also now a brand new coffee shop if you feel like a break during shopping. As an experience that is part of Nicosia's history and tradition, a shopping trip to the Ayios Antonios market should not be missed.
