Two Die in Road Accident New Year's Day

Tragically, two people did not live to bring in the New Year after losing their lives in the first road fatalities of 2010.

The accident happened on the Ayia Napa-Larnaca road at 1.40am when a motorcyclist carrying a passenger rear-ended a car driven by a 57-year-old at a very high speed.

Their identities are still unknown but it is thought they are from Bulgaria, said Famagusta police, who are investigating the accident. A police officer on the scene said their bodies were so badly injured it was difficult to identify them.
