Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake Shakes Izu Islands, Japan

japan earthquakeA magnitude 7.0 earthquake has shaken buildings in Japan's Izu Islands and there are no reports of injuries, said the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The strong earthquake happened at 05.27am this morning at a depth of 365 kilometres, said EMSC.

The earthquake poses no tsunami threat, said the Japan Meteorological Agency.
