Young Man Killed In Mitsero Road Accident

road accident22-year-old Peristerona man Michalis Michail lost his life today in a road accident just outside Mitsero after the 18-year-old driver of the car lost control due to excessive speed, said police.

The two young men were on their way to an army check-in when the accident happened at 6.15am. Under circumstances that are being investigated, the car veered off the road, crashing into a tree and finally upended in a ditch.

Road fatalities rose by 18 percent last year as campaign after campaign fails to make a difference in the sloppy driving, drink-driving, lack of seatbelts and excessive speed habits that have become endemic in the driving population.
