Water Cuts to Resume - Min. Agriculture
Water cuts throughout Cyprus will resume starting January 11th because water wastage is eating into the country's reserves, said minister of agriculture Michalis Polynikis.
The situation is being closely monitored and will be re-evaluated in about a month, he added.
"I would also like to appeal to consumers to show understanding and it should be understood by everyone that the wastage must stop," said Polynikis.
He went on to say that leaks in water pipes controlled by the Water Board were also contributing to the wastage.
Desalination plants are currently being built to meet the country's water needs, but they will not be completed until mid-2011.
