Murder-Suicide In Nicosia, Bulgarian Woman Stabbed To Death

A Bulgarian woman was stabbed to death at 7.55am this morning by a Bulgarian man who then ran away and was found hanging from a tree outside the PEO union offices in Pallouriotissa, said police.

The woman was stabbed outside a bakery where she was employed, very near the Ayios Antonios farmer's market.

The victim is 30-year-old Galya Demetrova, and the man suspected of killing her is 29-year-old Valentinov Filip.

Demetrova was seen talking with Filip outside the bakery and according to the latest information, Filip stabbed her four times, leaving her lying near two rubbish bins where she had been taking a cigarette break. Her screams brought other employees running out of the bakery where they found her lying in a pool of blood. A knife was found close to Filip's body.

So far, investigators do not have a motive for the murder-suicide. Nicosia homicide detectives are in charge of the case.
