Kyprianou Congratulates Police on Swift Arrests
"The Cyprus community needs a quick resolution of the case and a conviction of the guilty persons," said Kyprianou in statements to the press this morning.
He went on to say that those who suspected political motives behind the murder 'should be more careful' of making statements that are 'paranoid' and 'poisonous'. His comments followed a storm of rumours and speculation about the possible motive behind Hadjicostis' murder.
Three men aged 30, 33 and 37 are attending a remand hearing at the Hippocrateon Clinic, where one of the suspects is receiving treatment. As investigations into who masterminded the murder develop, new arrests have not been ruled out, said a police spokesman.
41-year-old Andy Hadjicostis was ambushed by two men on a motorcycle, who shot him dead with two blasts of a shotgun at around 8.30 pm on January 11th. The publishing group he ran, DIAS, is the largest and most diverse media organisation on the island, with operations in television, magazines, and newspapers.
