55-year-old Limassol Man Killed in Road Accident
A 55-year-old family man from Limassol was killed yesterday afternoon in a road accident near the General Hospital, said police.
Savvas Heracles Savva was driving a company van in slippery, wet road conditions when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a road divider. The van tipped over in the middle of the road and the driver was killed in the impact. Doctors at Limassol General Hospital certified his death on arrival.
The weather yesterday was rainy and visibility was low due to a lot of dust in the atmosphere. Police said they are investigating whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt and whether he was speeding at the time of the accident.
The accident happened next to the turnoff for the Limassol highway and traffic was blocked for more than an hour near Ypsonas.
