13-Year-Old Bulgarian Boy Drowns While Playing with Ball, Paphos

daniel kirilovA 13-year-old Bulgarian boy lost his life tragically young yesterday in Paphos after drowning in a Geroskipou waterway as he chased a ball that fell into the water, said police.

Danny Kirilov was found unconscious in the waterway at midday and was rushed to Paphos General Hospital where doctors tried to save his life in vain. The boy had sunk to the bottom of the canal and authorities sent a diver into the water to retrieve him. It's estimated that he was underwater for at least half an hour, said a police spokesman.
