January Inflation Rises to 2.4%
The rate of inflation rose to 2.4 percent in January 2010 compared to 1.1 percent in January 2009, said the Cyprus Statistical Service (CYSTAT).
In December 2009, the rate of inflation was 2 percent.
Consumer prices fell by 1.9 percent in December 2009, according to the survey, which cites decreases in the prices of clothing, footwear and household furnishings.
January sales account for the price decreases. Meanwhile, the price of electricity, petrol, water and certain fresh fruits rose, said CYSTAT.
