Bomb Traps Man in Flaming Car

car bombA 40-year-old man narrowly escaped death when a bomb planted in his car was detonated by remote control, trapping him in the flaming vehicle, said police.

The explosion happened just after 10pm this evening as Kyriakos Kosharis was driving on the Peristerona-Nicosia road. He was pulled out of the vehicle by witnesses who said the car was on fire. Police are treating it as attempted murder and have launched an operation to find out who is behind the car bombing and what their motive is.

Kosharis suffered serious leg injuries in the explosion and is in critical condition in Nicosia General Hospital after his left leg was amputated from the knee down.
